What a great opportunity…..to launch a magazine to more than 55,000 international readers focusing on general interest topics with a focus on people in industry. From the onset, our strategy has been to create a sophisticated but reader-friendly publication. The readers range from CEOs to facility managers and it is critical to capture both audiences. Understanding Dixon’s customer and working with them to shape a magazine that was creative demanded that we ask many questions to bring out the essence of the magazine and bring it to life.
In 2004, Dixon decided to publish a quarterly magazine for people in industry. Our goal was and continues to inform and educate our customers about interesting, informative topics that illustrate the value of hard work and persistence. We sought out custom publishing partners and after a thorough evaluation, chose Alter Communications. Between their portfolio and their understanding of the type of magazine we envisioned, our marketing team knew they could bring this idea to reality. Alter assembled a team that created a premiere issue that surpassed our expectations. In fact here is what one of our readers said about the first issue....
Not sure how or why I got it but the inaugural issue of BOSS ended up in my mail box. I am not one to spend a lot of time reading trade publications but the articles tweaked my interest and I found myself reading the magazine from cover to cover. I am sending in the card to receive the magazine in the future and am including the name of a co-worker who also found it very interesting reading. The article about bridges coupled with the great information about Thomas Edison were music to our ears and it was enjoyed very much. I will keep my copy on my desk for future reference and I look forward to the next issue. Thanks so much for a pleasurable reading experience.
