Who we are
Clipper City Media is the umbrella brand of the Baltimore Jewish Times, STYLE Magazine and all the publications, products and services of the former Alter Communications. When Alter was sold to the WJW Group in April 2012, Clipper City Media was launched.
The Baltimore Jewish Times is Clipper City’s flagship publication. Founded in 1919 by David Alter, the JT has arrived at readers’ homes every week, without interruption, for nearly a century. Alter’s great-grandson, Charles “Chuck” Buerger, took the reigns of the paper in 1972 and turned what had been a successful but somewhat unambitious community newspaper into a powerhouse of Jewish journalism, earning national and international acclaim. Today, the JT continues to be a cornerstone of the Jewish community, filled in print and on jewishtimes.com with important local, national and international news and opinion, plus entertaining features and profiles and convenient, useful advertising content.
STYLE Magazine, introduced in 1989, has become the market’s must-read upscale lifestyle publication. In bi-monthly print editions and on baltimorestyle.com, STYLE covers “Smart Living in Baltimore,” including home design, fashion, food, the Chesapeake and regional travel. The area’s movers, shakers and style-makers are featured regularly in STYLE – and never miss an issue – while its advertising pages have become a go-to resource for readers looking to entertain, redecorate, celebrate, travel or to give their look or their lives a total makeover.
